Spring into the Past

Visit us during the Spring into the Past museum tour this weekend on May 4 & 5th from 10 am to 5 pm. Organized by the Tri-River Museum Network, the tour will feature close to 30 museums from five counties.

The Fallasburg Historical Society (FHS) will be at the one-room schoolhouse ready to share the good news about our collective access project: Online Curated Exhibit of artifacts and collections from the Fallasburg pioneer village.

You will be blown by the ease of access to our treasures.

Following is the introduction to the Vergennes Township topic on the collective access landing page:

Three of our most treasured collections reflect not only the history Fallasburg Village, but of Vergennes Township. The Women’s Committee of the Council of National Defense registration cards were compiled in Vergennes Township in 1918, for public support of World War I. The Council of National Defense was formed to coordinate resources and industry in support of the war effort, including the coordination of transportation, industrial and farm production, financial support for the war, and public morale. The Vergennes Cooperative Club (VCC) was formed on October 29, 1914 by the women in Vergennes Township for the “promotion of cooperation among the farm women of the neighborhood and the social enlivenment and betterment of the farm homes and of this community.” The VCC met monthly until 2004. “Vergennes Township Living History” was the result of taped interviews and written recollections compiled in the 1980s and 1990s to record the history of the Vergennes Cooperative Club and Vergennes Township.
